Bio

I’m a philosophy researcher at Ghent University in Belgium, where I previously completed a master’s degree and a research master’s degree in philosophy. Currently I’m working on my PhD project called “Fury: A Philosophical Analysis of the Productive Value of Feminist Rage”, supervised by Prof. Dr. Tom Claes. The project uses the framework of Miranda Fricker’s concept of epistemic injustice to investigate the potential value of feminist rage. I show that there exists an anger turn in contemporary life, which can lead us to recognise feminist rage as a productive emotion. I argue that feminist rage is often silenced, but that through aiming to give the emotion more uptake, we can unlock its epistemic, affective, and moral value.

Apart from academic writing, I also enjoy science communication to a wider audience. I write articles and opinion pieces for magazines and other media outlets, and I talk about my research in public lectures. My first book (in Dutch), Kwaad spreken: Wie gelooft de boze vrouw?, is out now!
